You Need To Learn Something! Affordable Classes Through Udemy
Here at A Thousand Bad Ideas, we're all about free knowledge. Free is great! Especially when you're super broke. However you can't have everything for free.
With the power of the intertubes, there's been a push for free knowledge as well as paying for specific knowledge. You used to have to go to college and take a bunch of pre-requisite courses that you could care less about in order to take the few that you actually did care about. Now sites are popping up where you can pay for and enroll in classes of your choosing, cutting out what you made deem the more unnecessary aspects of college.
Udemy is one of those sites. Having launched in 2010 Udemy allows education to continue via video lessons. Offering a wide variety of courses, from coding to marketing to metallurgy, as well as a wide variety of price tags, the sky's the limit on knowledge. The courses are put together by experts, and rated by students who take it. On top of that, Udemy has released a mobile app, allowing you to take your learning with you.
Just browsing it seems Udemy has a pretty robust writing/publishing section, as well as photoshop offerings. Their traditional drawing options are pretty sparse, however the Intro to Storyboarding Course is being done by one of my old teachers, Dalton Grant. He's a first class teacher as well as was probably one of the few people I actually learned anything from during my time as an art student. So I can at least vouch for the quality of that one class.
Have any one of you guys used Udemy or another learning site before? What was your experience? Having any courses to recommend? What kind of courses would you be interested in?
